This networking group provides awareness, education and peer support for anyone with primary or secondary lymphedema. We also welcome caregivers, lymphedema therapists, medical personnel and anyone at risk of developing lymphedema.

Speaker: Joan Bickweat
Topic: Living with Lymphedema and Lipedema

Lipedema, also known as “painful fat syndrome,” is a chronic condition that often accompanies lymphedema. Joan is a longtime LANROC attendee who lives with both lymphedema and lipedema, and this presentation she will share her knowledge of how to manage both.

Topic: Sentinel Node Biopsy and Preventing Lymphedema

March is Lymphedema Awareness Month, and we like to commemorate this month by adding an extra speaker to our LANROC speaker lineup. Nurse practitioner Victoria Nugent, who has been treating breast cancer patients since 1990, shares her expertise about sentinel node biopsy and breast cancer. We encourage anyone who is facing breast cancer surgery and treatment to attend this meeting.

Topic: All About Wrapping for Lymphedema

For many people living with lymphedema, wrapping their affected limb has to become a part of their daily self-care. Wrapping can be daunting, especially when you just get started. Jim will talk about supplies, techniques and why wrapping is important. He will also demonstrate wrapping at this session.
