The LGBTQ+ Networking Group provides support to those diagnosed with breast or gynecologic cancer and who identify as LGBTQ+. Participants receive support and information on getting through treatment and side effects, on surgery and recovery, and on the emotional toll felt from diagnosis and treatment. This group is unique as it addresses feelings of isolation, relationships, and invites partners to join. Participants are encouraged to speak with facilitator Kathy Simpson prior to attending this group!
The LGBTQ+ Networking Group is a monthly, “drop-in”, professionally-facilitated, networking/support group. Currently we are meeting via Zoom (links are below).
It is not necessary to RSVP for this group.
The Breast Cancer Coalition offers programs and services at no charge.
4th Wednesday of month, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

About our facilitator: Kathy Simson
My career path and interests have been eclectic. Most recently, in 2015, I retired as a mental health counselor from Catholic Family Center with post-graduate training in treating trauma and addictions. In 2013, I was diagnosed with stage three Triple Negative Breast Cancer and found invaluable support at the Coalition which led me to becoming a volunteer as a PAL or Peer Advocate Lending Support.
Besides facilitating the Coalition’s monthly LGBTQ Networking/Support Group, I facilitate the Voices and Vision writing group once or twice a year. Even though my wife and I have been happily together for 23 years there’s nothing quite like talking to someone “who has been there” with the cancer experience. And that’s where the Coalition is a key resource. No one has to go through the cancer experience alone. Check us out.
