Women on a Journey Discussion Group

Women on a Journey Discussion Group is a welcoming space where women from all walks of life can connect, share experiences, and find support through every stage of a breast and/or gynecologic cancer diagnosis, treatment, and beyond.

The Women on a Journey Discussion Group meets on the 3rd Monday of each month from 5:30 – 7:00 PM in-person at New Life Ministries 330 Wellington Ave, Rochester, NY 14619

Led by a facilitators Dr. Gloria Morgan and Flo Alston each session encourages meaningful conversation, shared learning, and mutual support in a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment.

Dr. Gloria Morgan

Dr. Gloria Morgan values education and believes that knowledge provides opportunity and taking advantage of the opportunity leads to power and the ability to change/improve. She produces weekly podcasts, Parenting Tips with Dr. Glo, on the podcast network of 103.9 WDKX. She retired from higher education after 42 years at three different colleges. Dr. Morgan is a two-time breast cancer survivor—19 years apart. She attributes her community engagement to her southern and Jamaican heritage and her Christian upbringing. She was raised by a single mother who instilled the importance of education. She is the birth mother of three adult daughters and has two bonus adult daughters. Family (not only defined by blood) is very important to her!

Floretta (Flo) Alston, MSW

As a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) I am committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve emotional well-being. Drawing on a strong foundation in social work and clinical practice, I provide compassionate, person centered support that fosters personal growth, resilience, and lasting change. Throughout my 20 year career in Rochester, I have developed expertise in assisting at risk populations access comprehensive support while addressing barriers to wellness and stability. My work has been grounded in a person-centered, strengths-based approach that recognizes the unique experiences and goals of each individual. Currently, I practice in behavioral health as a licensed psychotherapist, providing compassionate, evidence-based crisis therapy to individuals seeking support for mental health, and emotional well-being.
