I have always been a very active wife and mother, not only a homemaker, but working outside the home as the children were older and getting involved in everything our kids were involved in!!! I sometimes think I lived everyday as if I were invincible! At the time of my breast cancer diagnosis, our children were all well into adulthood with children of their own. Cancer makes you realize that “it” could over take you.
Breast cancer has made me stronger in my faith. I am more aware of God in my life every minute of every day. He is in control of all the decisions I make. My priorities have changed. Things that used to upset me, I find are no longer important.
The Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester has become one of those priorities. The people there, the staff and all the “survivors” are the people who really understand what has happened.
I would say my breast cancer diagnosis was an awakening. My husband and I are learning to simplify our lives, living one day at a time and really enjoying life. Life is very precious!
Thank you to the coalition for being there for me and all who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. You give us HOPE, STRENGTH, LOVE and GUIDANCE.
