The first day that I walked into the Breast Cancer Coalition was in the spring of 2008, one month after having had surgery to remove cancer. I had had an appointment with the surgeon in the morning and then treated myself to lunch at the Natural Oasis Market.
There was a BCCR newsletter on a coffee table and after looking through it, I went over to check out the place. I was warmly greeted, and sat in a little library room with Tracy talking about my journey to that point. I had just learned that although the surgery had taken care of a lot of my cancer, it was recommended that I do some treatment for the cancer that was discovered in my lymph nodes.
It was the perfect time for me to discover BCCR and I was invited to come again for “Brown Bag”. Although it’s about a 45 minute drive each way, I did go again the following day. I’ve continued to go when I can and also attend seminars when my life allows. The common ground and sharing has been invaluable. There are so many wonderful people working to support others through a challenge like none other. The amount of laughter and joy has amazed me. I am thankful to be a part of this group.
