I felt a lump in my right breast, while in the shower. After a diagnostic Mammo with ultrasound and the reassurance of staff that this was nothing, A FNA was attempted. The call back said “suspicious of carcinoma” and I was referred to a surgeon. A lumpectomy was performed 11/12/12 and the call back confirmed an 8mm IDC tumor was HER2+ and ER+. I began chemo on 1/31/13: six cycles of TCH (every three weeks) with Herceptin alone between. Chemo ended 5/16 I took a month off and then 33 radiation treatments to the right breast from 6/25 through August 2. Then I started the Estrogen block Tamoxifen for a 5 year course. The Coalition has been a wonderful source of support and encouragement throughout treatment. Hearing the experiences of the ladies who have preceded me in this sisterhood, and the reassurance that they got through this and I will too. The wealth of knowledge we all collectively have gained, and the opportunity to come together to share and uplift one another makes the Breast Cancer Coalition spectacular!
