Research Initiative – Planting the Seed, Funding Innovative Research
Since 2003, the Breast Cancer Coalition Research Initiative has awarded over $1.2 million in funding to regional researchers examining the cause, prevention, prevention of metastasis, and cure of breast cancer. Having awarded 32 seed grants over the last 22 years, the Coalition plans to extend these grant opportunities to fund gynecologic cancer research in the near future.

Tumor Agnostic Therapies
CAR T-cell immunotherapy works by reprogramming a patient’s own T-cells, part of the immune system, to recognize and kill cancer cells. This relatively new therapy is based on a simple concept. Blood is drawn from a patient, then a new receptor – the chimeric antigen receptor or CAR – is added to T-cells taken from the blood.

MBCACA Update
For the last few years, we have put forth a major effort to pass the Metastatic Breast Cancer Access to Care Act (H.R. 549 and S. 663), a bill that would waive the mandatory 5-month wait for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and 2-year wait for Medicare for those under the age of 65 who qualify for early admission to this program.
